Have you ever had an awkward pause in a conversation where you could have sworn you heard crickets chirping? Now you can ACTUALLY hear Crickets chirping. Check this out. theCRICKETtoy™ is for any awkward pause.
Right now, some awkward situation is probably running through your mind. And if your family is anything like mine, the upcoming holidays should provide countless opportunities for this little green guy to interject a chirp or two. (great stocking stuffer!)
theCRICKETtoy™ was created by Jeff Anderson, a songwriter/producer in Nashville with a goofy sense of humor. He has several awkward videos posted here and you can buy your own cricket on his website. Matter of fact, it would make the ideal stocking stuffer for the teen in your life. Everyone knows they are full of awkward moments…
Like I said, check it out:

(yes, a PT Cruiser wrapped like a HUGE Green Cricket!)
P.S. I told him I would help him get the word out, so please copy and paste this entry in your blog and ask your readers to buy a toy and put this entry in their blog. I want to see just how many blogs we can get this fun, toy (Great Stocking Stuffer-only $5) on! I think we’ve got the next “pet rock” and it’s fun to be a part of creating a cultural phenomenon!

According to their website www.relationaltithe.com
RelationalTithe.com is an interactive platform for connecting and meeting needs across socioeconomic and geographic barriers. It is also a place to explore, to meet, to share dreams and ideas, to ask and discuss questions, to learn and to grow together. We are determined to live intentionally, in joyful and responsible relationships with those around us. This site is only one, although powerful, tool to connect with people all over the world who share this vision.
This is interesting, check out the website, read all the tabs…. I’m keen to hear your thoughts on this. Isn’t this what we the church should be doing in our communities anyway? Lets discuss.

Leadership conducted a survey in May 2008 asking nearly 700 evangelical pastors how their perceptions of the gospel and mission currently compare with their understanding a decade ago. The results clearly indicate that pastors’ attitudes and beliefs are shifting.
What the survey actually says - http://www.christianitytoday.com/le/2008/fall/7.23.html
What do YOU think?
I think its an interesting article, although personally I’d like to see the church do more ‘doing’… than discussing the doing, it seems we’re like a giant oil tanker when it comes to turning around. I’m honestly baffled why we even discuss “missional or non-missional” or “incarnational vs attractional” - clearly mission is the churches DNA (the very core of who we are and what we do), and therefore we should be “out in the world” bringing Christ to the people” - by whatever means necessary, and loving and supporting each-other doing it.

Two things to check out, then let the comments roll! First have a read of this small post from Matt Cleaver, then listen to the podcast HERE. What do you think?
In the podcast that debuted in spectacular fashion on Saturday I made the assertion that church marketing is by nature an anti-missional practice. Mission sends people out. Marketing seeks to bring people in. The two are at odds with one another. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
So, if you want to be a missional church, cut your marketing budget and use that money to send people out to minister in the community.
Next podcast to be posted Thursday.
