The Heart

About Lucas

Lucas Parry’s passion is simply contagious! Music, mission mobilization, evangelism and social action - these words weave an ornate tapestry throughout his life and ministry and are now embedded deeply within his latest anticipated CD release Alive. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Lucas began his musical adventure when he learned to play the guitar at age eight. After writing worship songs for his church and recording a number of albums with friends, Lucas was hooked on music and its power to connect with people. He continued singing, leading worship at churches and camps, and traveling with an outreach ministry, Youth Alive, in high schools across Australia. In early 2001 Lucas’ songs, The Cure and Beautiful were recorded by Youth Alive and today Beautiful, has been recorded on five different worship albums worldwide. Multiple songs from his last CD Made to Fly broke the Australian Christian music top 20 and was picked up by many radio stations across the US. Its release in 2004 was marked by stellar reviews from Christian magazines and online publishers around the world.

Lucas’ intense passion for missions began early growing up in Australia’s largest mission giving and sending church. Today his fervor for mission has taken him to over fifteen different nations spanning five continents on various types of mission and outreach. Deep into the Kalahari dessert of Botswana, high up the steeped slopes of the Himalayan mountains in Nepal and through the bustling city streets of Calcutta, India. Lucas has trained pastors and church leaders, lead worship at stadiums, served on medical missions to the sick and poor, aided at refuge camps, and shared the Gospel to countless. After graduating university in Australia, he traveled to India on a mission to lead worship in the far northeast. It was on this adventure that Lucas met and fell in love with his wife, Jody, who was herself on a mission trip from the USA. Today Lucas and Jody reside in Nashville TN with their son.

Recently, Lucas combined his two greatest loves, music and missions to form ‘The GO Concert’. “I can’t describe how excited I am about this event!”, an energized Lucas exclaims over coffee. “The GO Concert has been a dream of mine for years! I’ve always wanted to create a concert that would motivate, educate and resource people for mission, evangelism and social action.”

So, armed with over 15 video elements, including internationally known guest speakers/authors, new music with full band, and partners like Compassion International, Threads/Lifeway, Zondervan, and Renewed Vision. Lucas and The GO Concert will criss-cross the country over the next two years visiting churches, college groups and youth ministries inspiring people to live missional lives. “The GO Concert is designed to inspire action. We all have a mission! Each one of us was created with a unique purpose, to impact eternity, and that destiny is designed to ultimately bring glory to God. The GO Concert will help jolt that reality into peoples faith walk.”

On Lucas’ sophomore musical release Alive, He combines his musical tastes and talents as singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer to create a CD filled with energy and oozes passion for God. “I wanted to create an album that reflected my personal journey over the last three years. God has been revealing to me what was truly important in life… people. The core of everything we do should be to love God and to love people”. Along this journey, Lucas penned the songs found on Alive; “It’s my prayer that through these songs, people might be encouraged and inspired to connect with God in a fresh, dynamic new way.”
